Welcome to The Couch, Have a seat.
Introduction
Let's just get right into it. You want to join The Couch Online, you want to be recognized in our pubs, and maybe even participate in some of the activites we do around here. Good, then you are in the right spot, I hope you don't mind I already have a groove in this seat, I've been sitting a loooonggg time.
By joining The Couch you will be held to a much higher regard than the rest of the regular users of The Couch's servers, so don't forget that. You are representing us, and we are representing you. Don't make us look bad, and we will make you look GREAT.
Structure
The clan is structured pretty nicely, we start with basic recruits, the «t»'s. Afterwords you work your way up the ladder, and eventually you can become a «tCo».
Recruits have no admin, unless they are a donor/supporter and have purchased admin through our billing system. Besides recruits we have four other ranks, for a full list of ranks and our administrative structure, check out our About Us page, it's dandy.
To move up these ranks these are just a few things you should look out for, it will help you get promoted quickly, promise.
Rules
- Follow our server rules and administrative guidelines closely.
- No abusive sprays, language, or racism is allowed.
- No cheating in ANY way, including map exploits of any kind.
- F10 jokes are GREATLY frowned upon. This is one of my personal pet-peeves, so behave.
- Support current regulars and non-regulars (and admins) whenever you can.
It's a simple list, and most of it is just common sense. We don't recruit People simply based on time, and we aren't one of those groups that are growing at an exponential rate. We actually watch over our users, and if they screw up they lose the rights that they have gained. Sure, People normally get a second chance but there is always going to be a slight chance you don't get one.
Application
The next step would be posting in the Recruitment Forum. Sorry, no link this time. If you can't find it on your own you should probably start over from "Welcome to The Couch, Have a seat." We need the following information from you, this information is basically your lifeblood, and once you post it, it's posted. You can't edit it or view it after you have posted it, so make sure you get it right the first time!
Name: Real Name, First and/or Last
Location: City/State/Region (any or all)
Age:
HLStatsX URL: Click Here to get your URL. Search for your in-game name.
How long have you played TF2?: Years? Months?
What about on The Couch?: It's been quite some time, hasn't it.. (how long have you played with The Couch)
Favorite Map: Dustbowl, maybe?
Favorite Class: Heavy? Pyro? Medic? ..not gym class.
About you: Where do you work? Any other clan experience? Are you still in school? Be creative, be unique, be recognized.
Why you want to join: This is big. Try to make it at least five lines long (based on our forums AFTER posted, not in the text-box). This will definitely be looked at.
Promotions
Promotions will be handled in the amount of time put forward to help our community grow. You do not have to be the most skilled player to be promoted, nor does time as a Couch Member mean you will be promoted. Your time put forth into The Couch and it's forum's will be the largest determining factor.
- If the teams are stacked in one direction, how do you handle it?
- Are you going to stay on the winning team, or just let everyone else know that the teams are not the fairest they could be?
- Total play time on the server will give you lots of brownie points toward promotion.
- Age, and location
- We would like everyone to be mature
- We don't care how young you are, 'as long as you put forth the effort and maturity we are looking for'.
- Also know that People in time zones further from the Americas may be promoted sooner, due to we will be needing admins at all hours.
- Forum activity
- Post count, and topic creation are all big factors in recruitment. We are trying to keep this an active community, both in game and out. Keep the forum as active as possible, give your insight in some way.
Get Active in our Community!
- Make new threads on our forums, and reply to other's threads frequently
- Doing this will make you look more friendly, and you will know what is going on with others who are in the community.
- It is always nice knowing what to say to someone, and makes the community friendlier as a whole.
- Make friends! It's really easy!
- Both by doing the above and also by getting on our ventrilo. It's a great place to chat it up and actually talk to others who you are playing this great game with.

After Applying
After registering and posting your application you are totally free to wear the «t» tag («t» name) all you wish in our servers. Remember, just because you are wearing the tag does NOT make you an admin in any way. Just play and have fun and you will might be promoted! DO NOT EVER ask to be promoted, your chances will be greatly reduced if you do that.. so don't! :)
